The mandate of the City of Vancouver Archives, a division of the City Clerk's Department, is to acquire, organize and preserve Vancouver's historical records and make them available to the widest possible audience.

Our holdings include:

  • City of Vancouver government records (public records)
  • Records of non-government organizations, businesses and individuals (private records)
  • Visual records including historic photographs, maps, etc.

If you would like to find historical information about Vancouver, please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with our holdings by searching our online database or browsing a summary .

The City of Vancouver Archives is located in Vanier Park on the south shore of False Creek:

As a security measure, the Archives requires photo identification to be shown when registering. You can fill out the registration form in advance.

Monday through Friday:

Reading Room open

9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Staff assistance

10:00 am to 4:45 pm

Closed statutory and civic holidays.
